If you are interested in adopting a rat from this rescue, please be sure to review our adoption requirements and minimum habitat sizes to comfortably house rats. You can find this information under "Adopt a Pet!" and the How to Adopt section. All rats will be adopted out either spayed/neutered, or in same-sex non-breeding pairs or socially compatible groups.

Please bring a safe, chew-proof carrier to bring your rats home in. If you do not have supplies needed for your rat, they can also be purchased or ordered through Andy's Pet Shop in San Jose.

Rats will be available after the quarantine date ends on December 5th, 2010, when we will begin to make available young female rats who could not have been old enough to get pregnant at the time of the rescue, as well as male rats who are healthy and socialized. In the weeks to follow, more rats will become available as female rats clear their gestation watch, or finish raising and weaning litters.

Please note that no pregnant rats, or nursing rats with litters are available for adoption. To ensure that no pregnant rats are sent out to new homes, all rats are being held through a full gestation period before being placed up for adoption.

Please note that rats are to be adopted as pets only to individuals that will keep them as personal pets. No rats are available to commercial entities for resale, to individuals for resale, or for feeding to any other animal or person.
